To the Reader:

Everybody does it. I thought it was just me. We project parts of ourselves onto each other. That’s what this play is about.

It’s a dark stormy night in the Santa Monica Mountains. Sally is celebrating her 50th birthday with a few intimate friends in her elaborate, comfortable mansion. The party is going pleasantly until a small airplane crash lands inches from her house. The dining room window shatters and all the lights go out.

The Pilot Who Crashed the Party is a play by Tony Award and Drama Desk Award-winning actor, writer, and director Paul Sand. It was successfully workshopped in Spring 2023 in Los Angeles, California.

The pilot finds his way through the front door and faints. Sally and her friends

now become his caretakers, nursing him back to consciousness. Once awake, we discover the pilot doesn’t know who he is. Where he is. Or how he got there.

The projections intensify as the evening progresses: the danger, the paranoia, the unrequited and the sensual. As dawn approaches, things have become pretty out of hand in this complicated comedy.

I'd like to thank my dear friend Barbara Bosson for making all of this possible.

    All my best,
